Don, who joined Galliard Homes in April 2001 as a contracts manager, worked at the company for 21 years in various roles, including construction director and managing director.
Following this decision, the company’s co-founder and executive chairman Stephen Conway will take over as CEO, and Darren Maguire will be appointed to the board of Galliard Homes as the new managing director of Galliard Construction.
Darren, who is currently the firm’s construction director, has over 30 years of experience in the development sector, having delivered a wide range of projects from large scale residential schemes to hotels, shopping centres and bank headquarters.
Throughout his time at Galliard Homes, he has overseen some of the group’s major developments, including Harbour Central in Docklands and the Great Scotland Yard Hotel in Whitehall.

Commenting on his departure, Don said: “Working with Stephen for 21 years has been an extraordinary privilege; he is a skillful entrepreneur, with superlative business instinct and his kind heart is never far from the surface.
“I wish Stephen and the Conway family every success in the bright Galliard future.”
Stephen added: “The Galliard of today is unrecognisable from the Galliard of 21 years ago and that is, in large part, due to Don’s dynamism and will be his legacy.
“I will be forever grateful to him for the commitment and energy he has given to our business and we wish him well for the future.
“I welcome Darren to his new role on the board of directors and with the recent promotion of Amanda Dijk to the position of finance director, we have a strong senior team to take us forward to the next chapter of the Galliard story.”
Darren stated: “I am pleased to be joining the board of directors and consolidating my role as the new managing director of construction for the business.
“Working with joint venture partners, Galliard Homes is starting construction on a number of major flagship developments in 2022 and I look forward to the challenge of delivering these key projects for the group.”
